Feline lovers have something to purr about this month as Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance celebrates its 4th anniversary of saving newborn and medically-challenged kittens!
The nonprofit organization will be hosting a party at their Kitten Nursery located at 21 Pond Street in Arden from noon-4pm on Saturday September 16th. The family-friendly event is free to the public and will feature playful adoptable kittens, tours of their facility, and mouth-watering pies from Baked Pie Company.
The Kitten Alliance is Western North Carolina’s first and only organization focused solely on rescuing the tiniest, sickest, and most vulnerable kittens. Over the past 4 years, they have rescued nearly 1,500 kittens – 76% of whom were unweaned or severely injured or ill when they arrived.
In 2022, the Kitten Alliance purchased their property in Arden, which serves as an adoption lounge and an educational resource center for rescuers throughout the region. The facility also houses a private suite for pregnant and nursing moms and an intensive care unit with incubators, nebulizers, an oxygen concentrator, and feeding tubes.
“The work we’ve been able to do over the past 4 years is far beyond what I ever could have imagined when I started the organization in 2019,” says Andee Bingham, founder and director. “The community has been truly incredible and has helped save so many tiny kittens who wouldn’t have had a chance without the around-the-clock care we’ve been able to provide. I can’t wait to see how many more we can save together in the coming years!”
